An Energy Broker is an intermediary between energy suppliers and consumers. They do not own or distribute energy to the consumer and they cannot sell energy directly to the consumer. Energy Brokers negotiate the best energy rates with energy suppliers and then present it to the consumer.

What Type of Training or License Do I Need?

To become an Energy Broker independently, you need to obtain a broker's license. License and registration requirements vary by state. Generally you will fill out multiple forms and pay a fee. 

To become an Energy Broker with BrokerX, there is no license needed. We are a brokerage and are licensed in all deregulated states. Therefore, your own license(s) is not needed and you can start selling immediately.

What Do I Need to Be Successful as an Energy Broker?

Becoming a successful broker takes a lot of work. You need to be a self starter and entrepreneurial minded. Previous experience cold calling and selling is very helpful.

Because this job is only commissions based and there is no cap to how many deals you can win, your salary has unlimited potential. Additionally, if you are able to refer other Energy Brokers to BrokerX, then you will earn a portion of the referral's commissions as well, providing you with supplemental income.

Job Description:

This is a commission-based position only. You will have unlimited earning potential and can set your own hours. We are currently looking for energetic and entrepreneurial-minded individuals to join one of the top Energy Broker companies in the country. Join a seasoned team of professional energy brokers. Your role will be to provide customers (residential or commercial) with savings on their energy bills. You will be paid based on the percentage of the contract that the customer signs. Contracts payout on a residual basis. Acquire a customer once and get paid every time they pay their bill for the entire life of the account. Unlike most brokerages, you will always own your book of business and we will provide you with energy broker training, a dedicated account manager, and software for CRM, pricing, contracts, and access to over 90 energy suppliers. This is an exciting opportunity with a growing company for an entry level position to work in the deregulated retail energy markets.

 

In addition to selling energy, you will have a second opportunity through our referral program. Every time you refer a new energy broker to the BrokerX team, you will receive a referral bonus. Again, another opportunity for unlimited earning potential.

Duties:

You will call consumers or management of prospective customers, educate them on their electricity and natural gas choices, gather data and bill copies to develop cost proposals, and present and close proposed electric and/or natural gas service contracts. You will build a book of business customers while attaining personal sales quotas.

 

Requirements: 

  • Cold calling/sales experience

  • Entrepreneurial/self-starter

  • Strong interpersonal skills in dealing with potential customers and existing customers

  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently
